How to use Google’s Website Optimizer for WordPress

A little while back, Google launched a tool called the Google Website Optimizer, which helps webmasters and Professionals SEO, Miami, do testing on their pages in order to see how a page could be more effective in their campaigns. This is done by creating landing pages to test different variables, such as alternative phrasing or word usage. There are two different types of tests that can be done with Google’s Website Optimizer, which are:

• A/B Experiments – This method compares performance of entirely different pages, and can be used to test different content, layouts and so on.
• Multivariate Experiments – This allows you to test the performance of different pieces of content on the same page, allowing you to run concurrent tests on the same page at the same time.

Using Google’s Website Optimizer isn’t difficult, but if you have WordPress, as so many website owners do these days, there’s a plugin that makes testing even easier. Google Website Optimizer for WordPress is a plugin for WordPress that allows you to easily incorporate Google Website Optimizer tracking on a page-by-page basis.

If you have WordPress, installing and using the Google Website Optimizer for WordPress plugin is quite easy. First, you go to your admin panel, and then go to the Plugins -> Add New screen. In the search field, type “Google Website Optimizer” and click the “Search Plugins” button. Google Website Optimizer for WordPress will be the first listing that shows up, so click “Install Now” underneath and let it run its course. Once the plugin is installed, activate it.

Then, upon creating a new post or a new page, you’ll see a new box below the text entry field that allows you to enter the control, tracking and conversion scripts you received from the Google Website Optimizer website, so those must be created before you create the new page. Once you’ve input those, all you need to do is monitor the results from within the Google Website Optimizer.

WordPress can best handle A/B testing, according to my research, so if you wish to do multivariate testing, you might need a different platform from which to test. Using Google Website Optimizer for WordPress couldn’t be simpler, however, and in no time at all, you’ll be collecting data that will help you optimize your pages to make your campaigns even more successful.
