How to care for silver bars.
Silver Bars are a great way to invest in the precious metal silver! When buying silver bars you should know that silver bars are produced in 99.99% fine silver and come in four general sizes with the bar’s weight and purity stamped on each bar. These silver bars are available in sizes that include one ounce silver bars, 10 ounce silver bars and 100 ounce silver bars.
It is important to keep silver bars clean and shiny, so I am offering a few tips to keep the tarnish away. Silver bars, like many bullion bars, will tarnish if they are not always stored in airtight containers. (This ugly tarnish is not as pretty as shiny silver, but it does not devalue the silver bars—silver bar prices are always by weight.) You can either clean the tarnish off of your silver bars at home, or ask a professional metallurgist.
There are numerous cleaners for cleaning silver bars and bullion at home, but a baking solution also works. Some collectors like to use a "Diluted" muratic acid, which works great for silver coins and silver bullion. But be very careful when mixing it with water, and do not smell the fumes either!) A safer bet for silver bars is to use a baking soda solution, and you can follow these steps.
1 Place a plastic bowl on a table to contain the liquid solution that will remove tarnish from silver bars
2Then put aluminum foil on the bottom of the bowl to create a safe chemical reaction when the other ingredients are added to the bowl.
3. Next, pour two cups of boiling water into the bowl.
4. Then add 1 tablespoon of salt and one tablespoon of baking soda to the warm water
5. Finally, place your pure silver bars in the bowl and leave them there for twenty minutes. When you remove the silver bars, you will discover that the tarnish will wipe right off, leaving shiny silver!
