If you are a collector or lover of classic Timex watches like me, then one day you might need to know how to change batteries in Timex watches.

Changing batteries in a Timex watches is not difficult, but great care must be taken when doing it. For example, if you aren’t paying attention to your Timex watch, you might damage the watch mechanisms, the crystal, the Timex watches gaskets or even the battery you are inserting. I’ve outlined a few steps I’ve seen from other experts on Timex watches below.

• The first step in replacing batteries in Timex watches is getting a new watch battery. The Timex watches manual will tell you what battery is used for your watch. The back of the Timex watch may also tell you the battery type.

• Then, carefully place the watch in the case holder. Secure your Timex watches in holders with the cases back up. If you do not have a case holder, lay watch on a soft padded cloth.
• After opening your Timex watch,  make sure you use the correct tools to open the back of the watch. Some Timex watches will need the case knife, some screw drivers or the case back wrench. With most Timex watches, the tool needed will be the case knife, but there are exceptions.

• Next, you need to locate and remove the watch battery using a small screwdriver. There are various retention methods used. You may need to use tweezers to pull up the clip, tor to pop the battery from under a finger clip with the small screwdriver. Be careful not to damage the retention device or lose any screws. A small paper cup is a good place to put small screws

Of course Timex watches are durable and long lasting, but occasionally batteries will need to be replaced. Out of all the Timex watches I’ve had, I’ve only had to change a battery once! It says to me that Timex watches are quality.
