Your Slimming Bathing Suit

So you tried on a lot of bathing suits and have come to the conclusion that they just do not make bathing suits for girls who have a few extra pounds.

So you tried on a lot of bathing suits and have come to the conclusion that they just do not make bathing suits for girls who have a few extra pounds. It is difficult to find a swimsuit that we can be happy with and some of us have been close to just giving up on the beach. Let’s face it, the beach is just too much fun to give it up and just because you have not found the right bathing suit yet does not mean that there aren’t any out there for you; you just have to look in the right places. L Space and Sunsets swimwear for example are great brands of swimsuits and they both have a plus-size lines, but what to wear?

Control the Swimsuit

If you control the way a swimsuit looks then chances are you can make it look just the way you want to. One of the biggest mistakes when it comes to trying to look slimmer in a bathing suit is to get a tankini, the bikini that goes over the tummy but it is still not a one piece. The tankini can ride up, so yes it is sort of a bikini and it may make you feel more comfortable as many say bikinis do feel more comfortable for most women but the problem is that they can ride up. If you are thinking of a tankini you probably think a bikini is unflattering. But the tankini for the most part is better, so while you might think to skip it and go for a solid color one piece swimsuit, reconsider the two piece suit.

A One Piece Bathing Suit is not Always the Answer

Many girls will run from a bikini and go straight for a one piece bathing suit. Although that works for some, it is not always the answer and besides some of us just love a bikini. The general rule for a bikini, when you are not the smallest sizes, is to avoid thin string ties. The thin string ties can create bulges that you are trying to avoid. If you are going to go for the two-piece swimsuit and you are above average, then avoid high neck lines. If your top is not a halter then a hidden bra is not out of the question, although underwire will work just fine.

What’s in a color? Everything

The rules of slimming colors also apply to swimsuits. Dark colors on a swimsuit such as black, navy blue, dark purple have a slimming effect just like they do in your average ‘goiing out’ clothes. Horizontal stripes are also not something you should be looking for as they draw attention left to right. Vertical lines on the other hand will help you look better. Round and straight neck lines are also something you should avoid for the same reason as the horizontal stripes. A V or a deep neck line will work better. You may also want to try bigger prints on your bathing suit and avoid smaller ones. Remember, the smaller prints on a bathing suit make the rest of you look bigger.
