These are not proof coins, not bullion coins, but a special collector’s release of un-circulated coins with an unbelievably low mintage and a special burnished finish. Each of these American Eagles began with a custom, burnished blank that was hand-loaded into a coin press. Each then underwent a special mintage process, ending with the coveted "W" mint mark of the U.S. Mint at West Point. With a low mintage of only 2000 sets in 2006, this set is the rarest modern issue of any coin from the U.S. Mint.
