| 1908 $20 Saint Gaudens No Motto Gold Eagle NGC MS 63 |
| This historic coin was quickly embroiled in controversy. The first 1907 issue, designed by famed sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, reached the public in mid-1908 with "In God We Trust" removed. Following a huge public outcry, the motto was forced to re-appear. As a result of this historical event, the 1908 Saint-Gaudens is the only date that has both “With Motto” and “No Motto,” making it highly valued by every serious collector. |
